America

Ethnocentric, but innocent.
I still care a little bit.
Consumed, confused, blind to the world of our embarrassment.
We all grew up deep in it, but denial precedes us
and deprives our lives of meaning.
So we search for success to cover our secrets.
To justify our weaknesses.
But in the end come short.
So we wrap our souls in plastic,
Packaged to pamper the medicated habits,
Broken marriages, and destroyed families,
We need clean air to filter through our psychological status,
Breathe out the disease of greed,
And accept life’s true happiness.
